Recently, a leader of Taiwan-based PTTC (passive device maker Polytronics Technology) noted, with lower demand, the company would delay the scheduled expansion to the end of led high bay light, which had planed to expand its monthly production ability for TCBs (thermal conductive boards) used in LED backlight units of LCD TVs to 100,000 square meters in the end of 2010.

PTTC thought the global demand for LED-backlit LCD TVs to begin to significantly grow in 2Q11. So, the company moved back the expansion at its existing factory and planed to build a new factory in in LED Linear high bay light.Amtran Technology planed to enter the LED lighting market and would emphasize on family lightings. But until now, the company has no specific schedule for product release.

It was said that LED had a share up to 10% in 2011 from 5% in 2010 in the global lighting market. Meanwhile, LED lighting market would start to strong competition in 2011.

Amtran noted that LED-backlit TVs were expected to have a 30% share in 4Q10, and the company had set up a research and development team since the single-side LED backlighting design became the mainstream technology. So, Amtran was optimistic about developing applications other than those for TV backlighting.
