LED investment cycles with potentially lower revenues

With currently very limited order visibility, it is far more difficult than in previous years to provide a full year guidance. However, Management believes that 2012 looks set to be a transitional year between LED investment cycles with potentially lower revenues. Consequently, although unable to offer a precise revenue and EBIT margin guidance at this point in time, Management led high bay light anticipates remaining EBIT profitable in 2012. AIXTRON Management will present a full year revenue and EBIT forecast as and when visibility improves.

According to the program, Chevron Energy Solutions will upgrade street lights with Bridgelux’s LED lighting technology at no upfront cost to the cities. The company has launched pilot programs in Livermore – where Bridgelux happens to be headquartered – and several other California cities, including Dublin, Benicia and Solana Beach.

Brad Bullington, VP for corporate and market development at Bridgelux, says several of the company’s pilot customers are likely to go to full build outs in the next month or so. He sees a huge potential market here, noting that there are 35 million street lights in the U.S., 70% of led linear high bay light which use a standard form factor “cobra head” design from General Electric that could use the company’s LED modules.
