China would be the development focus of sapphire substrate suppliers in 2011

Taiwan's Industry Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and the LED Street Lighting Industry Alliance had confirmed the report. If Fujian took the idea, Taiwan’s LED Street Lighting Industry Alliance’s member would have a chance to become the initial beneficiaries, such as Unity Opto Technology and Everlight Electronics and so on.

The company pointed out, although led high bay light was expected to be a slow season and the demand for LED sapphire substrate was expected to decline, the prices for sapphire substrate increased stably. It’s reported that sapphire substrate prices would increase again in March 2011 as demand picks up. Meanwhile, China would be the development focus of sapphire substrate suppliers in 2011, following the increase in its capacity of MOCVD sets.

According to Tourism director Swapnil Naik ,"Currently, churches, temples and other monuments in Goa are lit up using sodium vapour technology. It has its disadvantages: It is tough to get spares for them as they are outdated. They consume a lot of electricity, besides they only LED Linear high bay light a single colour. Sodium vapour lamps also generate tremendous heat, which could be damaging to heritage buildings."

As a result, the goal of the pilot project is to replace the lighting technology currently used for many religious and heritage monuments in Goa. And it’s said that Phillips Lighting recently approached the tourism department to undertake the project.
